Olivia Wentworth-Stanley
Now 22, Olivia has been riding since the age of 5. She began competing in the Hunter/Jumper discipline and then moved into Eventing at 8 years old. Riding up to the Preliminary level at the age of 13 on her Quarter Horse mare “Dancing Queen”, Olivia then discovered her passion for dressage. At 14, Olivia and her QH began competing at Third Level dressage and have since competed at the FEI Junior, FEI Young Rider, Prix St. George and Intermediaire 1 levels.
Towards the end of 2008, Olivia travelled to Germany to purchase a new horse, “Floreat George HWF”, a 7-year-old Holsteiner by Florestan. Their first season together proved to be very successful with scores reaching 80% in 1st Level at the Cornerstone Summer Dressage Festival. Olivia also achieved her Equine Canada Rider Eight award in 2009. “George” and Olivia competed at 2nd Level in 2010 with scores well into the 70% range and are hoping to reach the Advanced Levels by next year.
In 2010, Olivia was also given the opportunity to compete “Fiderglanz”, a 12-year-old Westphalian by Fidermark, owned by Travis Robson. The pair competed in the Advanced division with promising scores and she hopes to compete in Intermediaire II and Grand Prix by next season.
Olivia completed a double major degree in French and English Literature from the University of Western Ontario in the spring of 2010 and is now focusing her efforts towards her riding. Olivia has recently been accepted to train with Steffen Peters and will be travelling to California with both “George” and “Flook” for the winter of 2010/2011 in order to train with him. Her future goals in the sport of dressage include representing Canada at the 2016 Olympics and at future World Equestrian Games and World Cup competitions.
